Two Weeks Later…
.
I haven’t been around these parts much lately.
Honestly, I didn’t plan to be away this long — but it’s now been two weeks, so I figured you deserve an explanation.
I’ve been sick.
I’d hoped to be back on my feet by now, and that everything would be back to normal, but it just isn’t. This dry, hacking cough in particular just won’t quit. Rather than let that seep into my posts and have everything sound like it’s coming from a grumpy curmudgeon, I decided to step back for a bit and wait it out. But waiting it out is taking longer than expected.
Lately, most of my energy has gone into simply dragging my body from morning to night — something that’s requiring a lot more effort than usual. And I’m tired all the time.
Still, I’m grateful that this is just an illness, and that it will pass. This isn’t my new normal. It’s winter, and I caught a winter bug. I’ll be fighting fit again any day now.
Any day now.
Was it COVID? Honestly, I don’t know.
I did a saliva test that was well past its use-by date, and that came back positive. Then I did a brand new PCR test, and that one said negative. So who knows? The test I trust most said no, but… let’s just say maybe.
What all this has meant, practically speaking, is that I haven’t been able to spend as much time at Woodford Academy over the past fortnight as I’d hoped. I’ve done some work on the project here in the studio, but staying focused — giving my full attention — has been a challenge. Things are moving forward, just more slowly than I’d like.
Fingers crossed I can put all this behind me soon.
In the meantime, here are a couple of pieces I’ve managed to finish over the last little while.
See? It hasn’t been all doom and gloom…

Hi Joel, the Academy isn't going anywhere so don't fret about not attending (plus its bloody cold in those 190yr old rooms!) Rest, recover, stay warm.
